Day 9: Whitefish, MT to Kennewick, WA - 401 Miles

The day with Great-Uncles and Uncles who are Great
Today started with a solid breakfast. Greg helped Paul time the eggs perfectly. Ham, toast, yogurt and eggs got us ready for our morning in Glacier. When Greg was not helping Paul, he was chugging lemonade by the glass. I figure he drank a half gallon before we noticed. This required 3 pit stops in 80 minutes. All at inopportune times!
In Glacier National Park, there were many people stymied from going to the summit. The day before was the first time since last summer/fall, the road was cleared of snow for a summit pass. The snow has been too deep to plow until yesterday. All of the mountains in the area have snow. And all the rivers, lakes, and creeks are well over capacity. Simply stated, Montana is under water.
After lunch on the road, we went to Spokane, WA to meet my uncle Peter, his wife Chris and his daughters/my cousins: Callie, Autumn, and Monica. A couple months ago, when I asked Pete if it would be possible for him to drive 2 hours to meet us for dinner, he replied that he would walk to make it happen. Thankfully, he drove. It was great to introduce our kids to them and reconnect our family. Whenever in Western Washington, give Pete a ring! Since we said we are going back to Glacier, we will be seeing Pete’s gang again.
After dinner, we drove 2 hours to our hotel in Kennewick. The drive between Spokane and Kennewick was the first boring drive of the trip. Molly did get her stink of the day, but the drive was forgettable. With that said, we bid farewell to I-90 for 2 weeks. We will come together again outside Cleveland. And, yes CLEVELAND ROCKS!

Tomorrow we are off to Oregon and the Columbia River.
