We left our great hotel by 7:30 this morning and set out on our 8 hour drive. The team ROCKED today. We stopped twice during the nearly 500 miles. The total stop time was less than 1 hour. Bathroom transitions were fast and food was on the road. Again, we had a solid breakfast and got on our way.
One of t
he funniest parts of the trip was when we connected with my folks. We were able to video conference them through Apple’s FaceTime technology. We initiated a WiFi connection in the truck and got the iPad to call my dad’s iPad. From there, we talked with some minor choppiness. Very cool to have them talk to each of us as we drove through northern California. "Officer, we did not text while driving, only a video conference!"
In Napa, we were greeted by a wonderful outdoor pool where the aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents were. Betsy headed out for some solo time.
It is great to accomplish this milestone: California. Yes, we have to drive back home, but we have made if this far, and we still like each other.
When we pulled up to the hotel, our trip registered 4,346.5 miles. We are on target for nearly 8,000 miles.
Tomorrow, Annie gets married (barring any bad toasts tonight or tomorrow). We get to reconnect with the family, and celebrate another great addition to our family. Cheers, we are very happy to be here!
